What I read in December:How to Be Both by Ali Smith: Liked, didn’t love. A split narrative of a grieving precocious teenager in modern day and an artist from the 1400′s.Bluets by Maggie Nelson: What was my life like before I read Maggie Nelson? A cold, dark place. I want more. The Power of the Dog by Don Winslow: I read this book, then watched Sicario, and now am reading The Cartel. Basically an expert on Mexican drug cartels now.Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith: My favorite of the series so far! Really enjoying the chemistry between Strike and Robin. Cannot wait for the next book.Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff: This was a highly anticipated read for me. It’s the kind of book that makes you want to write your own work while you’re reading it, the prose is that compelling.Romantic Outlaws by Charlotte Gordon. I’ve been obsessed with Mary Shelley since I took a class on the Romantic Era in college. This bio on Mary Shelley and her mother Mary Wollstonecraft was a must-read for me.The Go-Between by L.P. Hartley: Many, many thanks to @mshenchy for the recommendation! What a fun book. The narrator is a pre-teen, super lovable guest at a fancy home in post WWI England. He unwittingly becomes the messenger for an illicit love affair. Recommend! -- source link
