The Very Strange Landstad Revolver,Remember the Dardick of the 1960’s? Incredibly the Dardick may not be the first magazine fed revolver design ever created. In 1899 a Norwegian man named Halvard Landstad created a bizarre revolver design, which incredibly was fed from a 6 round magazine. The revolver only had a two chambered cylinder, which oddly was flat. First a round was loaded into the bottom chamber of the cylinder. When the trigger was pulled the cylinder would revolve (double action) and discharge the round, while simultaneously another cartridge would be automatically loaded into the bottom cylinder from the magazine. When fired, recoil energy would work the slide mechanism at the top rear, extracting and ejecting the empty cartridge casing from the top cylinder. It was chambered for 7.5 Nagant (a Swedish variant of the 7.62 Nagant). An ambitious design, Landstad’s strange revolver did not go far. Mr. Landstad presented his strange and overcomplicated design for military trials in 1901, but it performed terribly. The revolver never went into production. -- source link
