There is a starving kid in Africa that everyone likes to tell me about. His problems are apparently much worse than my problems, therefore I no longer have any problems.Things you perceive as no big deal can still have a tremendous emotional impact on others. We are all built differently and have different capacities to handle stress. Maybe they just want attention, but there is also the possibility that they just can’t handle what they are going through, no matter how insignificant you think it may be.If they are reaching out to their support system to handle their issues, then you should let them do that. As long as they are not hurting anyone, I don’t see an issue. If I were you, I would focus on yourself and try to work out whatever challenges life has thrown at you. You’ve got more important things to do than leave hateful comments. “having problems is not a competition”YES CORRECT GOODI just HATE this idea that some people have that if your problems aren’t the worst in the world, you can’t complain. I hate when people tell other people they should just get over it. If a person is complaining in an unobtrusive way about something that’s bothering them, and you don’t think that thing is a problem, good for you, but you actually don’t need to tell them to get over it. You don’t have to call them selfish or weak or spoiled. That seems selfish to me, because you’re using yourself as the standard for other people’s feelings and behavior. Just don’t.Of course it’s a different situation if someone actually is actively trivializing other, greater problems, or if they’re demanding an inordinate amount of attention or accommodation or something.
