whcollins:The Imperial Army singled out certain comfort women for special treatment: wives of resistance leaders, daughters of prominent administrators in the old Manchurian regime. Rather than entertain the Emperor’s soldiers individually, these high-value captives were trained to perform before whole regiments. Locals were often forced to attend these pageants as well, the women’s neighbors and kin, to remind them of their subjugation. This photograph depicts a standard technique used to amuse the troops and humble the prisoner. She strains forward to keep her lips wrapped around the iron phallus, knowing that if she lets it slip from her mouth for even a moment, she will feel the guard’s lash across her backside.
