Day 7Reflections on: The Love Witch (2016)I remember when this movie came out multiple people told me I would like it. WELL GUESS WHAT?! They were all 100% correct. I loved this.Anna Biller wrote, edited, directed, produced and scored this along with overseeing such minutia as making the pentagram rug by hand! Is there anything she can’t do?! The music was excellent!Every shot is perfectly and thoughtfully composed. I wanted to screenshot almost every scene! It was tough to narrow it down to just 10 images to represent such a visually lush and densely colourful film. The entire movie is extremely stylized and utilizes out of date lighting techniques and rear projection in driving sequences. Even the acting feels “period”. It is extremely impressive! All the actors are spot on perfect in their roles.Speaking of “period”, a piss jar plays a pivotal role in the plot. I like that. This was very fittingly shot in Arcata, California, a town that also feels beautifully lost in the past. -- source link
