nahostwind: We must get back to our insides again. Wearing niqab with the Shahada printed on or taking photos of how you hold up your finger symbolizing the Shahada are, in my opinion, totally unnecessary unless you personally feel like they bring you closer to Allah in some way. I see your point if you say it helps you identify as a Muslim, yet, think about who do you want to impress really with this manner? Fact is that only when we carry the Shahada in our heart, it will be reflected in our deeds positively. Holding the Shahada merely in our hands includes the possibility that we might lose it someday - may Allah save us. These selfies of Muslims holding up their forefingers seriously remind me of any other symbol people of certain groups form with their hands, reaching from the peace sign to the rock finger or even the Illuminati symbol, a’dhubillah! I feel like being Muslim has become more like an outer image, a fading trend rather than what it really means: a life-long and modest (and so many more adjectives I fail to list here) lifestyle. Does this way of behaviour really stand for modesty? Think. Of course it is important to show that you are Muslim in public, but it’s about the HOW. Do we really need to brag about it like the Unbelievers brag about their haram stuff? Also, do we really need to provoke some of them on purpose in order to underline our Muslim identity? Our task is rather to call them to the truth by being role models and “showing them how to do it” instead of adopting their habits and imitating them. May Allah forgive me if I said something incorrect, and may He lead us all to the straigth path. Allahumma ammeen, allahumma ameen, allahumma ameen. -- source link
