Purim Prep in Progress! I’m putting a lot of time and effort into this year’s shalach manos, and today I’m doing it while my new babysitter plays with my daughter — I finally found someone who Girly loves and I trust! And part of me wants to feel guilty about it. I mean, are elaborate shalach manos really worth time away from my daughter? Can I be a good mom, a good STAY AT HOME MOM, if I sometimes (or often) prioritize doing things other than caring for my little girl? The answer, of course, is yes! Nice shalach manos clearly aren’t more important than my daughter’s well-being, but she’s thrilled to be playing with the babysitter, who takes excellent care of her and the truth is that the babysitter is much more engaged with her than I usually am anyways! Plus, the nice shalach manos aren’t just about nice shalach manos, they’re about MY well-being, which is certainly as important as Girly’s! Putting thought, time and effort into this creative project fills me up and gives me a sense of satisfaction that I don’t always get from changing diapers and spending hours upon hours with my sweet and energetic girl. That’s why I love our decision to hire a babysitter for a few days a week — while she’s here, all of my daughter’s needs are met and SO ARE MINE! #momwin #purimpreview -- source link
