wormwoodandhoney:books read in 2021: the grimrose girls by laura pohl“it’s okay to be french in fiction, but not in real life!”I was lucky enough to get an ARC from Edelweiss of this book. The Grimrose Girls is a book that I could’ve written, it is SO exactly me! Here’s the deal: after the mysterious death of their best friend, Ella, Yuki, Rory and newcomer Nani begin to investigate. They discover that their elite boarding school, Grimrose, is cursed to repeat horrific versions of fairy tales. They are tied to specific fairy tales, and magic begins to creep into their lives. This book contains sword lesbians, aro/ace representation, magical powers, fairy tale retellings in a modern boarding school setting, and multiple women of color. Content warnings include: mentions of suicide and murder, depiction of anxiety/OCD, mention of parental death, parental abuse/neglect, light gore. Overall, I give this book a 3.5-4 stars! I can’t wait to read the sequel! -- source link
