This greylag goose was rescued by Simon after being found not using one leg. Whilst relatively easy to catch, it wasn’t until our vet team were able to take an X-ray that the sad truth was revealed… the goose had been shot and the leg was badly broken. Luckily for this bird, however, the break was ‘mid-shaft’ and Maru, our lead vet, immediately booked it in for orthopaedic surgery. Using a combination of an intramedullary pin and external fixator frame, she was able to move the bone fragments back into place and hold them in a good position for healing. Whilst we are still in the early days of rehabilitation, signs are good so far and we hope this little one will make a full recovery. #wild #wildlife #rescue #simoncowell #wildlifeaid #vet #veterinary #bird #goose #greylaggoose #surgery #orthopaedic #operation #recovery #wildanimal #animal #animals #nature #animalsofinstagram #shot #break #animalrescue #instadaily #instagood #weekend #nature_brilliance https://www.instagram.com/p/B_p3uMSg62c/?igshid=92oo70i74ubg -- source link
