rayguncircles:garlic8reath:the infamous “starfucker” scene, AKA the scene where pete is being a lying liar who liesreally glad that hatred said this to him, though; I think that it actually got through to him, judging by his desperate trying-to-justify his previous words thing he’s doing at the end like a little kid who is trying not to get in trouble even though he knows he’s done something wrongI’d put this behind a readmore if the.. button was there… ??? Where did it go? I’m sorry. Here’s a lot of babbling.“I just work with him”What work is this? When was work ever done by you?? What is this imaginary world created by Pete ???“we were inseparable”Key word being “were” and on top of that, he’s definitely… embellishing. It seems like he tries to hang on to idealized versions of the past, like a lot of the other characters. OR (and maybe it’s a stretch) he thinks that best friends don’t use each other and get each other mauled by dogs…Pete’s BS (or emotional issues, or what have you) is so powerful that he denies closeness with his obvious friend, who for some reason sticks with him unconditionally. Instead he holds onto the idea of being best pals with Rusty, who was like “giddafuck out my house” when he came to see him after a long time apart. We could just say that Pete’s a jerk*, but that’s a lot less fun. And besides, people are usually jerks for reasons. VB may be a cartoon, but I think we’re all on the same page in terms of it being more than “just” a cartoon…*not to say that he isn’tAnd as far as Hatred goes, for all his own personal problems, he has some surprising emotional maturity and confidence, too. I like it. -- source link
