And last but far from least…Hungarian Bendy!Of all the three, he’s the furthest from his original concept physically— fully intended on his end. His overall character however, is more or less intact. Obviously he’s a serious mischief maker with a fondness for stealing, pranking and generally causing havoc. But Ben here takes it further by being an incredible shapeshifter with a serious penchant for world altering antics. Of the three, he is the most affected by Hungarian Folktales and lore. You see, Hungarian lore has a very fascinating depiction of devils, as I’ve mentioned here. Many, if not most, are absolutely wicked with a desire for mortal souls; but there’s some, like Pínko, who are well-meaning but still cause trouble. Yet, there’s the group where they’re so different from typical mainstream depictions, they might as well be a different entity entirely (Heck, there’s a story where the Devil himself appoints a priest as a godfather for his 97th son, and has him christened!). It’s possible, like many countries, before Hungary was Christianized, what’s now called a devil (or ördög) was something else that was grouped along with devils. So, Ben here is definitely a mix of the latter two/three. While he loves tormenting unsuspecting souls with his jokes, he’s not a true sadist and has boundaries even he won’t cross…somewhere. He also has no desire for souls (I mean, he’ll probably just them somewhere anyway). Thus he’s not a true “devil” at this point, and has no weakness against holy relics or prayers and the like. Rather his (and the others’) powers come from…elsewhere. He dwells in a land below with flowers made from jewels and pearls, floors made of giant razor blades, and constant warm light. However, he’s lazy when not goofing off and has a nasty tendency to kidnap folk to tend to his own chores…usually resulting in Alice intervening. Since he’s a master of shapeshifting and illusions, he has no problem of deceiving people to do his work, as Boris can attest to. His favorite tricks involve manipulating his head and tail in a sort of fashion. Sometimes he’ll ride on top of his head, or turn his tail into a pretty woman to bewitch a guy. Now, while he’d shrink back from killing, he’s not quite above playing his own brother’s heartstrings like a hurdy-gurdy, or stealing the moon from Alice’s realm (as well as the sun and stars). Other times he simply does random things to entertain himself like spinning fire into gold, dancing on razor blades, causing surreal phenomenon or whatever else he can think of.His imagination is boundless and terrifying.————————————Reblogs are appreciated!
