I hope you’re all recovering from the Memorial Day weekend! Nothing quite says America like drinking out of doors and blasting some good old rock and roll. The songwriting displays the band’s jazzy discipline that stimulates both an intellectual ear and a foot that’s just itching to dance. The instrumentals are reminiscent of the musicality of The Reign of Kindo but the vocals cut through with an edge like Chris Cornell and a purity a la Brandon Boyd (before he went all Jesus Christ Superstar on us). All these factors combine to create a sound that tugs at our 90s nostalgia but is fresh enough to compete with and shine amongst the Bushwick-drunk scene. They certainly provide a refreshing and rocking alternative to the Bon Iver-Fleet Foxes knock-offs that have been drenching indie music lately.
