Big Brother is watching you. The State wants to take care of you. north Korea scares me to death. the fact that a place like that still exists in modern day. those people are prisoners. these don’t even cover half of how many f-d up things are going on in north korea A couple of years ago 5 people were executed by firing squad for owning cell phones. Guards patrol the border of North Korea with guns, stopping anyone from getting out. Those who can bribe the guards to help them escape will probably be sold into sex slavery in China. Whenever their Dear Leader dies, people are literally forced to be in mourning. For many people though it is sincere since they are taught to practically worship him. They have an Anti-American Museum where they keep a copy of the Bible in a glass case as a kind of dangerous, evil relic. they are economically fucked and want to fire missiles on other countries….. But this can’t happen in the modern world? There is no reason the people should fear more gov’t. See, this is why first world whiners need to realize that they are actually far from oppressed. Reblogging this again because it’s still true. It will always be true. And I know I’ve said this a million times but I’ll say it a million more. If you live in a place where you have the choice to vote, work, go to school, wear and say whatever you want, can go on the internet with your expensive electronics, and have access to simple every day things that homeless people don’t (and as I’ve said before, I know what it’s like to be homeless and live without those things), then you are simply NOT oppressed. If you are LGBT and you live in a country where your existence is not illegal, where you will not be punished by whipping, imprisonment, or execution, then you are not oppressed. The people in those countries can’t just go on tumblr and talk about how much they hate a tv show or video game. They can’t form any groups or clubs or talk about being LGBT. They can’t be open about who they are. And some people take me bringing this up as telling LGBT people in first world countries to ‘shut up’ about things they have a problem with. That’s not the case at all. Talk about how much fiction affects your life all you want. But at least recognize that the people in those countries can’t do that, because they’ll be whipped. Or put in prison. Or stoned to death. Or thrown off a building. Realize that compared to them, you live an extremely, extremely privileged life. It sickens me how many first world LGBT people actually think they’re oppressed, when there are people in the world who have to face much bigger horrors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufhKWfPSQOw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdxPCeWw75k These are two really good videos to watch about North Korean horrors from two escapees if anyone is interested. I recommend a book called “In Order to Live” Its an autobiography about a young girl who escaped North Korea, and she talks about how the government controlled and literally “brainwashed” people. She’s considered a terrorist to the North Korean government and is a top-wanted criminal. -Mod Void Always reblog information about North Korea. Always. Awareness is crucial. I pray so often for all the civilians of that joke of a “nation” to escape, right after everyone in their government is righteously assassinated or blown the fuck up. This is the kind of stuff you’d find in some dystopian novel. But it’s happening in real life and that is both sad and scary. -- source link
