iusedtobebitterdoll:‘We shall fight and win the day Self defence is the only way!’ Asian Youth Movements (AYM) have been formed since the mid-1970s in Great Britain in cities such as Bradford, Sheffield, Manchester Birmingham and London with the aim of defending their communities from racist violence and campaigning against the racism of immigration, as well as the racism of trade unions and employers. By adopting an anti-imperialist analysis of racism, they have drawn attention to racism as an exercise of power intimately linked to the development of capital accumulation around the world. Inspired by the stories of resistance to racism and slavery in the United States, as well as the anti-colonial struggles in their communities and in Africa and Asia in the 1960s and 1970s, they organized themselves recognizing the link between their own struggles and those of the peoples who resist to colonialism and imperialist expansion around the world. -- source link
