malibu-x: Ok, this has probably been brought up before but I saw this gif and it dawned on me WHAT IF REY WAS ACTUALLY THERE? Like, not physically there but somehow when she touched the lightsaber, she tapped into their bond that we didn’t even know existed at this point and appeared in front of him. It would explain why Ben reacts to her as though he sees her. Imagine that at some point in Ben’s life, this mysterious woman, who he’s never seen before, is somehow appearing before him. He wonders who she is, how she did it, why. He could have been thinking about this moment for years and then one day he sees her for real. In The Force Awakens he’s curious about her, gentler with her when he has no reason to be. And then in The Last Jedi we see Rey appearing to Ben for what we assume is the first time, but perhaps it wasn’t… -- source link
