styleisstyle: dynamicafrica: The Politics of Hair, A Visual Conversation on Natural Hair. A visual narrative that delves into both the literal and the abstract, The Politics of Hair is a two part photo series that was conceptualized by artist Tré Danielles, in response to conversations and perceptions surrounding natural hair. “Within the first part of this project, I used hair as a vehicle to debunk the ideas of black hair and how it measures against European standards of beauty,” Danielles states. “In its very essence, this narrative experiments with hair as the medium to push the limitations of beauty. I think of my photo narrative as a commentary on hair in relation to the body.” Following up to this will be a second part of the series that carries on in the same vein as the photos above, only a little more intimate. About it, Tré says, “part two of this narrative will focus on the coming together of both models using hair.“ Artistic Direction - Hailey Sewell | @haileysewell Model - Tatenda Hatugari @tatendahatugari x Tré Danielles @trebaybay Photographer - Jeremy Jude Lee | @jjudelee Hair Stylist - Okalani | @miss.okalani Twitter | Facebook | Instagram | Pinterest | Soundcloud | Mixcloud ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ -- source link
