The original McCarran Field was located in North Las Vegas, and Alamo Field was established here in the early 40s. When the US Army sought to open a base at the NLV site, Clark County purchased Alamo. Runways 25/7 and 19/1 and were built in 1948 and the new McCarran Field opened 12/19/48.A number of ranches can be seen next to the runways in the top photo. Some of the landowners are noted on a map from a few years earlier. -- source link
