digitalfrontiers: Portraits of RaptureOn November 5th, 1946, the incredible underwater city of Rapture was formally opened to its citizens. When you take your first bathysphere down to visit the submerged city, you can definitely tell its seen better days. But even with everything in disarray, Rapture’s elegance and allure can’t be held back. As soon as you set foot in the Welcome Center, there’s something almost magnetic about the way the city draws you in. And that’s something that would be desperately needed if you’re going to convince some of the most successful and intelligent people on the planet to give up ever seeing the sun again. Andrew Ryan and his talented engineers and architects hit the nail on the head though, because despite its crumbling infrastructure and the ever-present threat to your life from Adam addicted Splicers, you’ll still find yourself wanting to visit (and maybe even saying, “I would live here.”), again and again. Happy Birthday Rapture. -- source link
