anxiett: anxiett:If she had come forward right away maybe things would be different. ♀️ If she was actually assaulted, that’s terrible. But she should’ve reported it right away. If you are sexually assaulted or raped, REPORT IT ASAP. They can usually find evidence like different forms of dna and perform a rape kit. Go immediately to the hospital and have them call the police. Do not wash or get rid of your clothes. Don’t even wash your hands. Posts like this make women think they won’t be believed, when that’s not always the case. @dumdeeedumI never said that if she had reported him he would definitely been found guilty, however there would be at least a chance he would have. It also would’ve made it more likley for him to not be nominated. Yes there is a backlog issue when it comes to rape kits, and that needs to change. But many do get tested. Even if they aren’t tested, if you report the person’s name and they rape another person, it’ll help get them arrested. Being raped is a horrible thing but rape victims have a responsibility to potential future victims to report it. Most victims aren’t harassed, that typically only happens in high profile cases. Usually victims are supported. Either way though, it’s still important to report it to help prevent future rapes. At the very least, they can report it anonymously if they are that worried about harassment. Of course that likley won’t lead to a conviction but it will help any future cases against the person. Anyway, if you are raped, report it. Don’t listen to the people saying that nothing will be done about it. It will make a difference one way or another. -- source link
