determinedlearningcrusade:dolphinqueen10:theavengers: THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIEREpisode 4: The Whole World is Watching See, this is another reason John Walker is no Captain America. Can you even imagine the word “jurisdiction” ever being used by Steve Rogers? Well, technically, yes. In a sentence similar to the following: “Justice and liberty have jurisdiction everywhere.” Or “when it comes to freedom, my jurisdiction is universal.” Or something else equally cheesy yet resounding. That aside, I have thoughts. Walker is a sanctimonious asshole and hypocrite, given how he (a.k.a. Captain AMERICA, who is oh so dedicated to the whims of the AMERICAN government) hasn’t really got jurisdiction either in Latvia. He has a smug look that makes you want to punch him, and not in the bickering best friends manner that Tony and Steve had. However, Ayo’s response, badass power move it is, is kinda pretty bad too, because… that’s not how laws and jurisdiction work? She’d be well within her rights to point out John’s hypocrisy and cite any number of reasons based on laws or heroics that mean the Dora Milaje are allowed to be there, along the lines of “We are sanctioned/have diplomatic immunity” or “It’s the damn right thing to do.” But instead, her answer boils down to… “we have rights because we say so”. It comes off more than a little arrogant and condescending, with the exact kind of smug “we can do whatever we want because we’re superior” attitude that Walker himself gives off. -- source link
