teaspoonies: callistokrats: psychicpsychotic: sridevi: sridevi: well…. it’s over. w-where…………… is his publicist? hes also transphobic like….. he never apologized for this and its still up: hey can we not immediately “cancel” someone as respectful and admirable as terry crews? can yall please try to recognize that these issues are not black and white? first of all, terry’s response after being called out for that insta post: anyways, terry really seems like one of the most admirable and respectable celebrities rn. after everything he’s done for the me too movement and addressing toxic masculinity I really feel like an issue as mundane as this isn’t worth canceling a black celebrity for. he apologized for the “severely malnourished” comment: and yeah, some of his statements were poorly worded but he clarified that he wasn’t saying all children need a literal biological mom and dad raising them to grow up normal (tweets clarifying he means more of a male role model or father figure than an actual dad) his point was rlly just that there are certain values that occur more with men and women in American society (the reasoning behind which is it’s own discussion; this was not terry’s point) and that children need to be taught both while growing up. (feel like this tweet also goes against the “transphobic” claim) y'all know he wasn’t saying gay people or single parents can’t raise kids. y'all know hes not a rampant misogynist. most of these tweets are regarding abusive parents and parents who left without a word because of his own damn experience. it really feels like some of y'all are just eager to cancel a black celebrity. Sometimes good people are not as “educated” as you are in regards for certain things.Sometimes you believe the same things as someone, but you do not have the same vocabulary.Sometimes you need to work towards an understanding before you pass judgement.Sometimes you need to help people understand and learn certain things because they have not known or understood what you are saying or why what they are saying may not be right. Communication is key. Its important to talk to people when they are receptive to what you are saying. None of us start off as the perfect woke supportive activist and ally. We all all learning, dont shut someone down because they haven’t yet. -- source link
