entity9silvergen: I see a lot of posts online of people saying they see he/ they or she/ they in someone’s bio and they don’t know what to do. The best thing is to just ask them. I personally like alternating people’s pronouns, with more emphasis on they/ them since chances are the person hears those pronouns less. And if they use neopronouns, I try to use those more and review a conjugation table when necessary. Also, try to present all options when asking. Some people are nervous asking people to use their pronouns and will sacrifice their own comfort to make it easier for the other person. Don’t be afraid to ask something like, “Would you prefer if I used one or alternated between them? Would you like me to stick to one then switch in a few days? Do you want me to use certain pronouns with certain people and other pronouns with others?”Try to match their energy if possible. If they are casual and confident, ask casually and confidently. If they are nervous, try to be comforting and try to make it clear you support them and show that you understand and present the options without bombarding them. If they tell you then realize they don’t want to talk about it, ask what you can do in the meantime and make it clear that you are there to talk whenever they are ready.[ID: O Imposter Of The Vent meme format. A red crewmate watches a black imposter crawling out of a vent. The crewmate asks, “Oh imposter of the vent, what is your wisdom?” The imposter responds, “If someone uses he/ they or she/ they pronouns, ask which ones are preferred or alternate between them.” End ID] -- source link
