cmog: Sample panels offered Louis C. Tiffany’s customers a preview of what their completed mosaic commission would look like, a reassuring step in the expensive commission process. They also established a color scheme and a guide for the artisans who selected different types of glass to complete the project. Artisans working for Tiffany ultimately chose the hue, color gradation, texture, and opacity of each individual piece of glass to best express the designer’s intent.
