Door 3 (Kurosawa Kiyoshi, 1996)Salarywomen in a salaryman’s world. I’ve been wondering when the elements of the work Kurosawa’s most famous for were going to appear. I mean the horror ones. Cure was only a year away from this and if that was his first attempt at film-crafting that kind of atmosphere it’d only be more remarkable. But he tested a few things here: the sound design, locations that feel cocooned from reality, shadows in still shots, a spooky lady in red. All to good effect. The only back-to-the-drawing-board failing here is that he shows too much. -- source link
