LONG POST ~ So I wasn’t sure I wanted to make a post about this since I ended up being totally fine, but I’ve decided to do it. Last night I was cruising on my longboard enjoying the weather. I was crossing the crosswalk down by Line Honors and Franks when an older couple in a van rolled the stop sign. I caught myself on the front of the car and landed on my feet, my longboard ended up underneath the driver’s side tire. That could’ve been my leg. I could’ve hit my head. I am so Fucking lucky that my longboard got the brunt of it and all I got was a bruised right palm. But it could’ve been so much worse. A wonderful family happened to be on the corner and stayed with me while the police came. The couple did not drive away making all of this very easy. I was so angry and so in shock that I’m not sure I would’ve even gotten their plate number. They were not kind or apologetic to me, swearing they stopped and simply didn’t see me. The police are doing all that they can to ensure that they get what’s coming, but they were from Florida so I’m not expecting too much. The point of this is that it could’ve been so much worse. The family that stood by as witnesses were about to cross when I did. I could’ve been seriously injured. I’ve been long boarding these streets for four years, two of them with that new four way stop at that intersection. I know how to cross that road. That man did not stop.So here’s what I want everyone to take away from this: 1. Cars are giant, metal, killing machines. They can end lives. If you are at a stop sign, with or without a crosswalk, PLEASE double and triple check that no one is crossing. And PLEASE take the time to actually stop your car. Not a rolling stop, an actual fucking stop. Count to five if you have to while you look both ways. That was terrifying.2. If anything like this EVER happens to you, call the police. Immediately. Get their license plate especially if they don’t pull over right away, and try to remember the description of their car. Look for witnesses. If there are none, try your hardest to focus on the details of the incident because you will be in shock - trust me.3. Don’t take your life or your health for granted https://www.instagram.com/p/Byc-9GCBqq4wBAXoLxveLkE6T7dG8zfqmMEws40/?igshid=1doc9ouwnqzvi -- source link
