This season of the MGAs also brought us more performances than any other so far. What were your favorite performances from your teams?“For Team Tiffany, I think my favorite performance was overwhelmingly You Don’t Even Know, from the ballad round. They worked so hard on that song, and it payed off in the form of a really meaningful performance, where we got to see a different side of both Yuri and Jiyoon. People don’t expect that level of creativity and spunk in anyone representing KT, but those girls proved they were in it until the end.”You probably just like it because they stuck it to MNET, right?“Maybe,” Katie Lee laughs.“One of my favorite performances was during the ballad round as well: Team Luna’s rendition of Fiction. I found that performance especially moving, because it came after the elimination of Seolhyun, and the team used that loss as fuel for the performance. I got a bit emotional watching it, because it really seemed like a song about the competition, and the losses they suffered personally,” Baek Jiyoung says.“The ballad round really showed the teams’ abilities to perform,” Tiger JK agrees. “My favorite from Bobby’s team comes this round too: We Fight Ourselves. It’s similar to like Baek Jiyoung said; it felt like a song from the contestants about the competition, and really highlighted their struggles. I said in the finale that my team was full of fighters, and I knew it from the beginning, but I think that was the round that they made it clear to everyone watching, too. They proved they could provide both excitement and emotion in their performances, which I take pride in cultivating in any of my artists, as well as my team on the MGAs.”“My favorite goes in an entirely different direction from my colleagues. I think I liked Team Jihyun’s version of Fire, from the weakest skill round the best. They were all outside of their comfort zone, but it didn’t show, because they still delivered a dynamic performance. Most importantly, it was fun.” So Jisub starts laughing before he’s able to continue. “I also liked their lyric changes,” and he mimics the performance before his voice fades into more laughter: “We’re ROYALty.”“Our Jisub and his questionable humor,” Katie Lee teases, and So Jisub practically giggles from beside her.“I thought it was funny!”Naturally, Hyun Bin steers the conversation back on topic. “I couldn’t decide for a while whether I thought Team Ricky started off or ended off stronger, and in the end, I don’t think it’s a matter of that. I think my favorite performance of theirs is their first one, Back, because it set the precedent for their level of performing the entire rest of the competition. First impressions are important, and there’s no telling how different things would have been if NOVA’s team didn’t make this one.”Katie Lee nods in agreement, smile still on her face, and she casts a questioning glance in So Jisub’s direction to make sure he has a hold on himself before she continues. “My favorite from Team Taeyeon was Pillow, which was their first song as well. It was a performance that really suited everyone on the team, and I think it set the stage for Team Taeyeon to continue full force through the competition as well. I trusted in Taeyeon’s abilities, but it was hard to anticipate how exactly she would put stages together for a team, and their performance of Pillow showed me that her and her team truly brought something refreshing to the competition.”“It was really sweet,” Baek Jiyoung agrees with a smile, and Katie Lee nods. “My favorite from Team Jinri was one that was really sweet, too. It was hard to pick because they were so consistently good, but I think this is just a bit of personal preference…” and she laughs. “I liked Jinri and Jinwook’s performance of What a Feeling from the MVP Round. It was just so cute, and their chemistry was good, and they were technically good too, though I was so wrapped up in the performance and how it made me feel that I didn’t even pay attention to any of that most of the time. That’s exactly how a good performance should feel.” -- source link
