uteropolis:random-lee-writing:This is one of the most important women in modern literary horror. This is Stephen King’s wife, Tabitha. Not only is she a writer as well, but if not for her, no one would ever have known about her husband. In regards to him:When Stephen was simply a teacher, Tabitha encouraged him to pursue his dream of writing.After he quit to write, she continued to work in order to help support their familyNot satisfied with how it was going, Stephen King threw his first work, Carrie, into the trash. It was Tabitha who pulled it out and told him to keep working on it. That means that without her, he never would have finished his first novel.She stayed with him while he suffered depression.she supported him while he dealt with alcoholismTabitha King stayed with her husband, and probably helped him, after he was hit by a car.Together they raised three childrenI kind of wish I could say more about the woman herself and her accomplishments separate from her husband. She is a successful writer in her own right and I doubt it is because of her husband (As demonstrated by Kevin Fedarline or however it’s spelled, having a rich famous and successful spouse will not guarantee instant success on your own).Regardless, this is a woman who a lot of people should be grateful for. Because simply by being a kind, loving, and supportive wife (and probably giving a good swift kick when needed), she was able to help create one of the most famous and successful writers in horror fiction.It just shows that sometimes the small things are what it is that can forever change the worldThe thing that happened with Carrie is that he wrote the shower scene and threw it out because he didn’t understand what it was like to be a teenage girl. She fished it out of the trash and told him to finish writing it, and she helped him get into the “female perspective” needed to write the book. :3 Carrie (and perhaps Stephen Kings career) never would’ve been “a thing” without Tabitha King :D#CelebrateTabithaKing2016I read Stephen King’s “On Writing” and he always sounds like he really loves and appreciates his wife when he speaks of her. -- source link
