Although set in Maine, Pete’s Dragon (1977)was filmed in California. The 52 foot tall lighthouse set was built on a point above Morro Bay, just south of Montana de Oro State Park. It was equipped with such a large beacon that Disney had to get special permission from the Coast Guard to operate it while filming, since the light would have confused passing ships. -- source link
