On May 8th, 1429, Joan of Arc raised England’s seven-month Siege of Orléans during the Hundred Years’ War between England and France. On April 29, 1429, Joan of Arc and several soldiers entered Orléans, France to help the city’s residents. Eight days after entering the city, Joan of Arc and her army were able to drive away the English soldiers and free the city. This turn of events helped the French to win the Hundred Years’ War in 1453, 22 years after Joan of Arc was executed. In 1920, Joan of Arc was named a saint, showing her importance in French history.Image from: Fairburn’s History of Joan of Arc called the Maid of Orleans. printed and published by John Fairburn 110 Minories.Call Number: DC103.5 .F25 1819Catalog record: https://bit.ly/2I5jYnR -- source link
