Chanwoo is clearly dressed to impress in a neatly ironed blue polo, khaki pants, and meticulously polished Oxfords, so much so that he seems out of place in a room full of jeans and old sports T-shirts. “Okay, state your name and give us a brief introduction" a voice calls out from behind the camera’s lens. ” o, okay.“ he responds sitting even more erect in the chair than he was before “Hello, my name is Jung Chanwoo and I’m 19 years old.” He stops, unsure of how to continue with a look of panic frozen on his face. This continues for a few seconds until the unidentified voice speaks up again “Are you in school? Do you have any hobbies? You don’t have to be nervous this is just a simple introduction to get to know you”. The teen hears but doesn’t comprehend and just nods a few times at the camera until the director yells cut.Wʜʏ ᴀᴍ ɪ ʜᴇʀᴇ?→ The recording takes a two minute intervention for both Chanwoo and the crew to reconvene and collect themselves. “Okay, Chanwoo tell us what brings you all the way from Seoul to audition with us?” There is a pause before he answers and he can tell from the crews faces that they expected him to freeze up again. “ Well, ” he starts carefully, “ I’m here because I want to perform. I’m not good at a lot of things, but something that I’ve always had a passion for is singing and though I don’t have much experience performing I want to follow my passions” The director speaks up once again “So you want to follow your passions? What do you think sets you apart from the other hundreds of kids here or millions of kids in the world who want to do the same?
