supernatasha: ASOIAF/Greek Mythology: Myrcella as Persephone Scorching sand burning the soles of her cracked feet as she runs through the endless desert, not a drop of water nor a tree for shade in sight, mouth parched and skin blistering. Longing for the embrace of her mother, she mourns and withered petals fall from her lips with her tears. She misses home, where she reigns queen, she aches for the familiar sounds of her palace and the city she was born in, for the laughter of her friends, for the cool breeze rolling in from the beautiful sea and green lush gardens. Instead she has guards and suffocating heat, sisters she cannot trust, miles of dust and years of waiting. Despite her scars and memories, there comes a glorious time when she begins to harden her hide against the relentless sun and think of herself as queen of this new realm. Older, wiser, stronger, she prefers not the taste of delicate fragile flowers, but instead the spicy toughened fruit of the prickly cactus. -- source link
