2bpoliticallycurious:Please get your terminology right. Food stamps ISN’T “socialism.” It is a form of social welfare associated with social democracies. Socialism is “a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.”Democrats are NOT trying to dismantle capitalism to take over the means of production. Democrats aren’t socialists (even Bernie and AOC aren’t “socialists”–they aren’t even “democratic socialists”). Progressive Democrats are “social democrats” like you will find in Finland or Canada. PLEASE STOP USING THE TERM “SOCIALISM” AND START USING THE TERM “SOCIAL DEMOCRACY.” If we don’t get our terminology correct, we just feed into right-wing propaganda. WORDS MATTER–the Right is counting on us to be too lazy to get our terminology correct. -- source link
