Honey Birdette ‘Bonnie’ suspender thong set. Leopard is the Little Black Dress of the lingerie world- it’s a staple, it has nothing to do with trends. It is a gamble though, doing a classic always is. Done well, leopard is timeless sexy. Done bad, it’s tacky at best. The best bet to making leopard work is to add a subtle retro nod for vintage pin-up vibes. This is what HB has done with ‘Bonnie’ and taken it an extra step by adding other complementary details- the lace, the red velvet bows and the faux-leather piping. It could easily have gone OTT with all these elements, but instead, is a perfect balance of cute, bad-gal signatures. This, to me, is what the modern Bettie Page or Tura Satana would wear. I like the golden tones in the print (not a fan of browns), which is a lovely semi-matte satin. The lace is similar to that on other HB styles, such a Senorita, which as I’ve reviewed before, softens very nicely over time. The bra is a lightly padded underwire that I find fits well and gives good support. It’s sturdy straps, also on the suspender belt, are great for staying put and holding things in place. I LOVE the shape of the suspender belt and I find it works well with even non-stay-up stockings. I think it would’ve been cool as a more 50′s six-strap, but this still retains that vibe. The simple thong is functional and allows the bra and suspender to get the attention. My favorite part of ‘Bonnie’ is her details. The contrasting textures of the satin, the ruby red velvet bows and the leather piping are what makes this set stand out, begging you to touch it. It was a very good design call, as was the large metal hardware, and is what makes me like this way more than any other leopard on the market right now. In fact, I only have one other I like as much as this (and the elastic has disintegrated in it, so this is the new leopard star in my wardrobe). This set- thanks to all it’s little thoughftul details- is a winner, perfect for the vintage vixen with modern sensibilitites. The various Honey Birdette ‘Bonnie’ styles are HERE, but I don’t think they will be available for much longer.  -- source link
