jerrybear: I promised a post on the Spencer Spanking Plan, so here it is: In 1936, Mrs. Dorothy Spencer published the Spencer Spanking Plan. Click on the link to read it. The Plan called for mutually agreed spanking punishment between spouses for violations of rules previously agreed upon by them. The Plan was unusual for its time because it called for the wife to spank the husband as well as for the husband to spank the wife. It was socially acceptable at the time for a wife to be spanked, but not a husband. Not all is equal in the Spencer Plan, though. She calls for the wife to be spanked, but the husband to be whipped. The Spencer Plan is intended for adults, though these basic principles of the Plan are very similar to those found in any good parenting book: When the punishment is over, all is forgiven and forgotten. No carryover of bad feelings. Punishable offenses are mutually agreed upon in advance. Punishment must be prompt, but never in anger. If there is anger, wait until it has dissipated to punish. Punishment is private, not to be revealed to anyone else, unless both parties have agreed in advance. Punishment must not cause injury, raise welts, or break the skin. Each partner must uphold their role. If one has earned a punishment, one must take it without argument, pleading, or bad feelings. If a partner has earned a punishment, the other partner must give that punishment without shirking. The partners must kiss after the punishment. The Spencer Plan is not the answer for most relationship problems. However, I have seen it help in a case where the couple loved each other, but had been together for so long that they took each other for granted. Each didn’t really pay attention to the needs and wants of the other partner any longer. In that case, each reminder of the other partner’s wishes, in the form of corporal punishment, was enough to prevent the undesired behavior, at least for a while. As far as I have been able to determine, the Spencer Spanking Plan and the Spencer Paddle are completely unrelated, even though they each appeared at about the same time. I want this in my life! -- source link
