zooophagous:biologyweeps:seemeflow:It is not often that this MadMan is taken aback .. especially by something I already suspected/knew… but sometimes seeing the proof or having it validated can still render shock, disgust and in this case grief.I always wondered about the high rates of cancer and diabetes in my neighborhood, and in other Black neighborhoods. These diseases are not inherent in people of African descent. What makes it worse is that every elder in my family has died at the mercy of one of these diseases. My mother passed from cancer at the young age of 59… as did every other elder on my floor in the co-op building we owned in Harlem. I long believed environmental factors played a huge part in the mortality rate of my beloved Harlem residents… so to come across this … as you can imagine, floored me and left me speechless. There is a part of me that says “this can’t be true”, but the larger part of me, having grown up in the area, having seen the bad food sold to us ..(even the more affluent of us in Harlem) .. I have no choice but to acknowledge what I have known for years has been validated.and no one cares…The only thing I can do as an individual is share the knowledge and information. If we get MAD enough collectively, raise our voices.. eventually we will be heard. I hope.http://themadmanchronicles.com/2014/01/26/radiated-milk-sold-in-black-neighborhoods-the-art-of-slow-genocide/There has been extensive research by for example the good people over at the WHO that prove that non, irradiation doesn’t do anything bad to your food, it doesn’t make it radioactive or any such nonsense. Here is the WHO study in question (both pdfs are downloadable for free). Here is a newer study. And another. And one more. Here’s an older one in case you don’t believe me that people have been studying this extensively for well over twenty years. Here’s one from China in case you want to claim that the other were some conspiracy. And another study. Is this finally enough for you to prove that there’s nothing to get mad about? Because I have about twenty more pages of pubmed publications on the matter I can pelt you with and I’d be more than happy to do so.Stop trying to create issues were there are absolutely none and focus instead on actual issues such as the fact that food deserts exist instead of clamouring about the supposed health concerns of something that’s been proven safe twenty fucking years ago after tons of research. There are people who are still terrified of vaccines and microwave ovens. At this point I don’t think it matters what there is to back it up, people will invent issues if there aren’t any. I think people do it because they’re bored and writing about actual scary things in the world like wars or human trafficking or the rapid decline of many animal species would require them to have actual tact and real research and its easier to find a scary buzzword and just make shit up. -- source link
