From the Writer to the Reader When people read my books and see the finished and edited words all neatly typeset and rendered, I wonder how many of them realise how many hours, how many sleepless nights go into writing it. I start with an idea that usually leads me in the right direction, but then I adapt it, change it, re-write it, delete it, sweat over it, fret over it… and then I hand it to an editor who covers it in red ink. As a writer, you bare your soul. Even if you don’t mean to, you expose things you never thought would see the light of day the moment you put pen to paper. You can’t help it, the words just flow out, and it’s only when you read it back later you see what your subconscious has decided to let out for the world to see. In a way, all writers are naked before the world, as we pull words from inside us and give them to you, the reader, for your entertainment. -- source link
