If you care about African women, share this image with your network. If you are an African woman or man it is your duty to share this with your network. These African women need our help. Why stand with Panzi? It is our global responsibility to support our brothers and sisters around the world and to extend a helping hand however we can. We are committed to raising at least $1,500.00 for Panzi Hospital in eastern Congo to help fund emergency operations during the current crisis. What’s going on there?Panzi Hospital is currently facing unethical financial seizures from the Congolese government.“On December 30, 2014, the Panzi Hospital staff in DRC received word from the Congolese government, through the DGI (Directorate General of Taxes), that the Hospital allegedly owed upwards of €500,000 in penalties. Authorities seized €38,000. This translates to roughly $600,000 in US dollars for the total penalties, with $47,000 already seized. The Panzi Hospital, like all general reference hospitals in DR Congo, operates in the public interest. No other hospital has been targeted for seizures. No other hospital faces frozen assets already allocated to salaries, supplies, food and services for the 370+ employees and 300+ patients currently in the Hospital’s care.” Find out more here .What is Panzi Hospital?Panzi Hospital “…provides holistic care for rape survivors in eastern Congo & fights for their rights worldwide.”“Dr. Denis Mukwege founded Panzi Hospital in 1996 as a response to the devastating war that surrounded his community in the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo. As a direct outcome of the war, maternal mortality was on the rise, and Dr. Mukwege, a French-trained gynecological surgeon, hoped to improve access to cesarean sections and other obstetric interventions.” Find out more here. Please help us stand with Panzi by donating or sharing this message with others!
