verypenmuchjoneswow: The last comment here is a perfect summary of what is wrong with the criticism of either gender. How is highlighting privileges with the other gender supposed to support any kind of equality? Feminists tend to make a clear divide between men and women and complain about the rights that men have. The same thing occurs vice versa with men criticising feminists. There are unfair advantages and disadvantages of being either gender, although there are often more difficulties being a woman due to biological and cultural factors which have remained since the start of humanity. Much of sexism is ingrained into us and our society and there is no point in getting mad at half of the population for problems they didn’t create. We are all humans and gender differences can’t be corrected in any way if all people do is criticise the other. The civil rights movement succeeded because it was unified, members of all races working together for equality. There is nothing wrong with being a women’s or men’s rights activist, but there is a problem with generalisation of the opposite sex to try to prove points. Statistics will always be misleading anyway, whether they are properly sourced or not. Many of the points here are due to natural gender differences. Criticising all males or all females of an issue will not solve anything but increase gender gaps and build resentment between people who are overall working towards the same goal. In conclusion: Don’t complain about conflict and generalisations and sexism whilst doing it yourself. Sexism will be reduced by all types of people being respectful of each other and jointly working towards rights. -- source link
