luminescencefics:fade in, fade out - part three previewSeptember 2008Nora’s never had to work with Harry in an academic setting before, and she has her concerns due to her track record with people like him. People with an unshakable god complex, people who have never had to work as hard as she had in her life, people who were allowed to start their semester three weeks late because of their surname. But watching him meticulously prep their station, triple-checking their equipment and ensuring that the acids she had grabbed from the back of the room were correctly labeled, has Nora thinking that maybe Harry might actually be smarter than he looks. Against her better judgment, the two of them seem to work well together, considering the only words they’ve said to each other have been about chemistry. They have virtually no distracted banter between them, which seems to work in their favor—because while everybody was still waiting for the reaction to occur in their beakers, Nora and Harry were already answering the questions in their workbook. “You look different,” Harry says once Nora’s finished her final question. She looks over at him, wondering why out of all of the things he could have said to her, he decided to say that.“Sorry?” Nora asks, confused.Harry looks up at her, his face blank. “Your hair. It’s different.”Nora’s hand flies up to her blonde hair, fingers running through her fringe that she cut just before leaving Newport for the summer. “Oh, yeah. I, uh, got bangs.”Harry just nods one last time before focusing back on his workbook, scribbling so harshly against the white paper that the black ink smudges against the side of his hand the more and more he writes down. Nora tries to focus on anything else.***Part Three: The Introduction will be posted on Friday, February 19thstory page // join the taglist // tell me your thoughtscatch up here! -- source link
