1863-project-art:OC-tober: Day 5Edmund Oxenbrigg - The World Turned Upside DownEdmund is Richard’s blunter, equally as loud partner in crime. Like Richard, he traveled to London as a teenager to pursue acting, and due to a shared sense of humor and being about the same age they became instant friends. As mentioned previously, when the schism became too much in the theatre troupe, Edmund and Richard pulled a little gunpowder prank that ended with a theatre burning down (but nobody died, Edmund likes to remind everyone). Here they met Amphilis and Mildred, and the rest is history. At the time, Edmund was actually shaving his head because he was tired of having to constantly wash the gunpowder residue and ash out of it and had caught fire at least once, but at some point during the group’s travels he ran out of time to keep shaving it and Amphilis complimented the color of his naturally pale blond hair as it began to grow back in, so he decided to let it return to its normal state (as it is in the image above). In his comedic interactions with Richard, Edmund is the more directly violent of the two and nearly always initiates fight scenes and slapstick, usually whilst yelling about something or other the entire time. In their real-life activism, if it can be called that, he’s actually able to put that to use - explosives aside, he can actually fight if he has to, and part of what draws him to Amphilis is that she can fight too. Notably, if Amphilis compliments him on anything, he actually quiets down and gets oddly shy, a stark contrast from his normal direct personality.Aside from everything else, Edmund is also the team cook and actually loves being in the kitchen when he’s not goofing around with explosives or making bad jokes about William Prynne’s extra holes with Richard. He’s highly proficient when it comes to cooking (he can notably make capon, which is coincidentally Amphilis’s favorite childhood dish) and generally does all the cooking for the entire group most of the time. Just keep in mind that this has made him really good with knives, so. -- source link
