wifeofbath: This is one of my favorite images out of The Art of Disney Princess. It has that wonderful grace of movement that is in a lot of Persian illuminated manuscripts, and the colors, softness, curves, and trees make this look like something from Jasmine’s region. Normally, I don’t like Jasmine in a full skirt (usually it looks like DP is playing up Princess=Really Big Twirly Skirts), but here I love it because it matches the peacock’s feather’s so perfectly. Now if I had my art history hat on a little more firmly today, I might go into a spiel about the peacock’s symbolism in the East and West, how Jasmine is surrounded by things associated with men (Aladdin’s lamp, the peacock in the background and her skirt), and what it means for Jasmine’s character. But I will save that for another day. -- source link
