thestarrywisdom: Maybe for the recipe bits, but the stuff used to make said recipes (glass vessels versus metal, type of knife, etc) seemed to be pretty lenient, if i remember correctly (it’s been a minute since i read it), with explanations on why certain stuff works better. TBH, having worked some of it (and I say “some” because I can honestly say I have not done all of it) - it’s pretty fucking forgiving of substitutions, exchanges and refunds across the board. Especially in the field of working with English versus American plants/spirits/locations/power-flavor. Getting to know the genii of the plants has been the only thing that I take into consideration - if I learn that a local presents the titles and attributes ascribed to plants in the V.U. I consider it, at the least, okay to give it an experimental nudge. Haven’t been wrong on it yet, though I imagine some of the incenses smell a bit different.YMMV, but if you know your herbs and forbs and what not to ingest or inhale it’s pretty hard to run afoul of anything other than the plant fairy-blasting your ass. -- source link
