I actually passed out because of that yesterday. Also shout out to all trans, gender-fluid or genderless people with menstruation out there! Periods don’t make you female. Only you define your gender!Actually there is a good chance that is not the lack of iron making you pass out but instead drops on blood pressure! I found this out recently. I’ve always been told my fainting/dizzy spells during my period were iron related but I did some research and because I have a history of low blood pressure and fainting related to it (in times of a restricted diet and pregnancy) it’s far more likely that’s the reason I’m fainting A lot of other AFAB people report the sameI ended up in the hospital due to severe blood loss and needed transfusions to recoverNot to mention the dip in your immune system when you lose that much blood, just because of all the white blood cells pouring out along with the rest of it. Or the fact that a lot of the painful/severe symptoms associated with periods are actually due to medical problems that need to be addressed, but people don’t know this because no one wants to talk about it and associate most of the symptoms with a fictional version of PMSAlso period diarrhea is a thing. And period vomiting. Sometimes, for some lucky people*, simultaneously.Hormonal birth control may help with bad period symptoms. COMPLETELY changed my life. You can have my iud when you pry it from my cold dead uterus.*I am lucky people.I have passed out from menstrual pain. TWICE! I had to start taking hormone control in order to keep going to college as my pain got so bad I couldn’t get out of bed.I donated blood and then my period, which was scheduled for several days later, decided to come that same day so the next day I nearly passed out and it was a fun timeI get excruciating cramps, it’s the one thing that puts me out of business (and yet, I’ll still go to work because “period cramps” is not a good reason to miss 2 or 3 days of work a month, yk?). I took birth control pills for a while and it was absolutely incredible for the first five months and then it decided to kill me. I had a hemorrhage for three months in a row, an anemia that wouldn’t allow me to move, and I’m pretty sure I was showing signs of trombosis that might have become an issue if I hadn’t stopped. -- source link
