1 min. readJust recently, my Psych 101 professor gave a short lecture on Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. It was a good and empowering way to start the first semester of my first year in college. I’m definitely picking up a copy of the book and writing a follow-up post in the future with my own insights. In the meantime, here are some of the notes I jotted down:Be proactiveBe responsibleShow initiativeChoose your actions and attitudesDo not blame others for your wrongdoingsLearn from your mistakesDo the right thing without being askedBe a part of the solution, not the problemBegin with the end in mindPlan aheadSet goalsDo things that have meaningPut first things firstSpend time on things that are importantSet your priorities straightMake a scheduleFollow your planThink win-winSee other people as a teammate rather than a competitorLook for alternativesBalanceSeek first to understand, then to be understoodListen to other people’s ideasSee things from another person’s point of viewListen without interruptingVoice out your ideas but remain respectfulLook people in the eyes while talkingSynergizeValue other people’s strengths and learn from themGet along well with othersSeek out other people’s ideasBe humbleSharpen the sawInvest time in yourselfSpend time with family and friendsFind meaningful ways to help othersPlace importance on your physical, spiritual, social and mental developmentTry to evaluate yourself based on these habits. See which ones you already developed and which ones you need to work on!Updated: June 30, 2018 -- source link
