the-real-seebs:oolongteamix:hand/lighting practiceThe Witches of Burlingford swore to stay together past even death itself, and shook hands on it. They were, at the time, working on a garden-variety health potion, nothing exceptional. But their hands met in the steam over the cauldron, and they swore their vow, and… well, sometimes magic isn’t totally understood. Twenty years later, it was noticeable that the hands they’d held in the steam that fateful day still looked younger and healthier than they had any right to. Fifty years later, though? The hands were still alive, and that was a bit disconcerting. The villagers eventually sealed the hands up in a small cave, lit only by a single narrow opening. And the hands? They do magic. They pour the light from one to another like sand, and they make cat’s cradles of it, and they bide their time. They have no reason to hurry, and when the time comes that the villagers are more afraid of something else than a few harmless old hands, they will hold no grudges. If you’d spent a century or two as an infusion of life, love, and magic, you wouldn’t hold grudges either. -- source link
