contrarianbullshit: hellnoradfems: heterosexism: guardian-of-the-forest: logicd: logicd: this-lloyd: logicd: this-lloyd: logicd: this-lloyd: logicd: Your average feminist summed up in this satirical picture. You seem to have misspelled ‘men’s rights’ really quite badly in your sign. Is this the best you could do? No, I could write something with an actual understanding of what feminism is and why it’s important instead of just copying iconography of a social movement while saying ‘oh noes, the womens!’. Orly? Then do it. I dare you. And for every point you make I will give you 2, no 3 reas- fuck that weak shit, 4 reasons why its not needed and why if anything, mens rights is more needed. I am waiting. I await your points to my ask box, with sources of course form non biased non special interest groups. I will be awake in 8 hours, and after 2 hours of misc stuff I will be on. Well this should be fun! Let’s just start off with a few basic points then shall we? 1. The wage gap. On average women earn less than men when doing the same job. Now I don’t know about you but I think that somebody earning less for doing the same job based on their gender (not just gender, you also have race, cis and other factors that come into play and from now on we can take that as a given and I am nothing if not intersectional in my feminism). Here, have some information from the European Commission and this lovely meta-analysis of the international gender wage gap, it’s a little dry but makes for interesting reading and who doesn’t love a good meta-analysis? 2. Representation in the media. For 51% of the population women really aren’t all that represented. Have an article from The Independent about it or if you want the study it gets it’s information from. 3. Representation by the media. When women are represented it either doesn’t tend to match to reality and has the tendency to be somewhat over-sexualized. Enjoy this piece on a UNESCO (that would be the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) report and an article that draws from various sources including the American Society of News Editors. 4. Working in media. Women are also drastically underrepresented behind the camera. The Status of Women in The U.S. Media 2012, now you may not like that it comes from the Women’s Media Center but it is a very good, easy to understand at a glance resource with all of their sources cited, check the information before you poison the well. 5. Representation in politics. Once again for 51% of the population women aren’t represented all that well. Have some American Politics, and some British Politics. 6. Rape Culture. And now we can get onto the joys of victim blaming. Here’s something that Rape Crisis has to say about it, some information from Amnesty International on violence against women, some information on attitudes to rape and information on false allegations. So that’s six basic reasons feminism is still needed so by my count you now owe me 24 rebuttals. Now remember the rules you set up, when you make your points you need to make them with sources of course form non biased non special interest groups, all 24 of them. Now I don’t know why you would want me to send this to your ask box instead of doing in on our respective dashboards, if I were a more cynical person I might think that you had a desire to take this from public to private to make it easier to ignore things you don’t like and give you the ability to cherry pick the things you want to respond to, but I’m not a more cynical person so it really doesn’t matter. Wage gap has been one of the most debunked things feminists can say. In a nutshell people who present that figure as some sort of argument never read the damn study and just heard it from another feminists. It doesnt take into account women choose to work less hours, that they choose to take more time off, that pick minimum wage jobs more than men, that they gravitate towards social jobs and retail jobs, that men tend to choose to work more hours and pick the more high paying and more dangerous jobs. It also doesnt take into account jobs based on commission and performance where it determines pay, or seniority like a man getting paid more than a woman in the same position because he worked there for 15 years and the woman is a new hire, or position differences in the same field. They take married older women for example and compare them to a 25yr old single male in a different field. Bit if you take a 25yr old single woman, and a man same age also single, both with similar educations and same jobs, and calculate hours worked, the pay is the same, and sometimes the woman makes $1.02 and the man $1.00 or or $0.98 to a mans dollar. Well within margins of error. Here is a comprehensive look prepared for the government specifically, 95 pages. SO if a movie gets more male leads, maybe the story is about a male. Holy fuck. Is this an argument. That link is just a news columnist upset that majority of the leads are men. Whould they complain if it was women?Well guess what, women caused this “problem” Majority of movie watchers are women.http://womenandhollywood.com/2010/03/11/guess-what-women-buy-more-movie-tickets-than-men/http://blogs.indiewire.com/womenandhollywood/mpaa-releases-ticket-stats-and-contrary-to-what-hollywood-wants-us-to-believe-women-do-go-to-the-movieshttp://www.mpaa.org/resources/5bec4ac9-a95e-443b-987b-bff6fb5455a9.pdfSo for gender inequality in films, and the film isdustry being a business, meaning profits above all, maybe male leads lead to more interesting films. So now its not about inequality, its just people like it more. Are people preferences sexist now? This is in accurate. Instead of the top 500 movies like your study says, it should be of all movies made. All that study says to me is that men happen to be in more popular movies. Meaning the directors and writers are psychic and choose men on purpose for their hits. Lol. No. No one knows if their movie will tank or not and having only 500 popular movies in the western markets as an example of inequality is bad way of showing it.——————As far as women in media in general, why do those studies not point out the sterotypes men face. The dumb male who cant solve something a women can in a second, the idiot father, the frail woman beating up the nig strong male in physical contact fighting (force on force ignoring the mass of the woman) the “tough men” are big strong chisled, that these big men are dumb and the bad guy the villins, always the one hurting people. Completly ignoring one side doesnt solve or depict anything in an accurate light. Reading that whole article and study, its apparant its one sided and heavily biased. Saying that the models of women used are the same hight as average woman but they weigh less. So? Were they forced? Is that what the target demographic likes, who have the money? If they used fatter women, there would just be another study about how skinny women are discriminated against. The only actual links to data was done by “Womens Media Center” yeah no bias there. Besides their data just looks at the differences in how many women in radio vs men and so on, then use that to insert their reason “discrimination because women!”—————Working in the media, same thing. Biased and reasons inserted to fit narative. Even if it was 99% in media and 1% women, is it because women dont care for those careers or because they are oppressed? You would be hard pressed to prove it is oppression and not lack of interest.—————-Politics. Humorus that you link to british politics, when they have a QUEEN.As far as politics go on both sides, again I see the numbers but is it because discrimination, women are not allowed, etc or because women just dont care as much as men. More insertion of reason to fit narative. From more bias stidies “Women & Politics Institute” Come on.————-Rape cultureDoesnt exist. We dont say murder culture, or robbery culture, or whatever culture even when its portrayed more often on tv and music. As far as rape itself, rape crisis england and whales? Till now every link but a couple is from england or europe pulling its numbers from the same place, using data from smaller special interest groups. Really? Amnesty international using rape data from shit hole 3rd world nations like Africa? Feminism hold slut walks and other trash to right for the freedoms of women in Africa?British study this british study that, england this england that, then you use it to say feminism is needed as a whole in america and europe? Lol. While saying the victim had no part in any capacity if she went out drinking with strangers late at night. All while ignoring the rape statistics with men. And that in many areas rape is different for men and women. ———These 6 poorly written reasons, with bias falling its ass. Her is why mens rights if anything is needed more than a group for whieny privileged women in 1st world nations.+=+=+=+=+Men are:99.999% of American combat deaths and casualties (historically)http://thewall-usa.com/information.asphttp://thewall-usa.com/women.asphttp://www.cwc.lsu.edu/other/stats/warcost.htm97%+ since the 1st Gulf War (DOD)http://www.icasualties.org/oif/female.aspxhttp://www.defenselink.mil/news/casualty.pdfhttp://www.hatsrcool.com/Americas-Major-Wars.html“The numbers of wounded women and female amputees, meanwhile, are considerably less than their male counterparts–at least 378 wounded versus 17,490; 11 amputees versus over 400–but they are historic for modern day warfare.”http://www.womensenews.org/article.cfm/dyn/aid/2755/context/archiveA Pentagon study published in March on the mental health of soldiers returning from deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan found that more than one- third of U.S. soldiers received psychological counseling. In other words, a fraction of a small fraction. One example:Between 1890 and 1917, two hundred thirty thousand (230,000) [male] railroad workers were killed. One of the most dangerous jobs was “brakeman.” Each car had to be stopped manually and it was the brakeman’s job to stop four or five cars. The brakeman walked on top of the RR cars and turned a wheel, putting the brakes “on” for each car. It was not unheard of for a brakeman to be thrown from the top of a RR car.Source: Freight Trains, Modern Marvels, The History Channel, 2006Men are: 76% of homicide victims – DOJ 80% of Suicide victims – CDC# Suicide took the lives of 30,622 people in 2001 (CDC 2004).# Suicide is the eighth leading cause of death for all U.S. men (Anderson and Smith 2003).# 24,672 suicide deaths reported among men in 2001.http://www.cdc.gov/ncipc/factsheets/suifacts.htm24,672 / 30,622 = .8056952In other words, over 80% of all suicide deaths in 2001 were male.also:“Suicide ranks 11th among causes of death in the US, with 30,622 completed suicides in 2001. America has now passed Russia as the country that has the largest percentage of its population incarcerated, yet we still claim to be the freest country on earth. The number of persons on probation and parole has been growing dramatically along with institutional populations. There are now 7.2 million Americans incarcerated or on probation or parole, an increase of more than 290 percent since 1980.http://www.sentencingproject.org/The problem of sentencing disparities is compounded by an epidemic of false accusations:205 (and growing) wrongly convicted people have been exonerated by DNA evidence since the beginning of the Innocence Project.204 of the wrongly convicted were men. Most of them were falsely imprisoned for rape.http://www.innocenceproject.org/As we saw in the Duke Lacrosse rape case fiasco, false accusers are rarely prosecuted and when they are it is only as a misdemeanor (at most), while rape itself is vigorously prosecuted as a felony. The Duke false accuser, Crystal Gayle Mangum went on to commit assault, arson and finally murder before authorities made a good faith intervention. One attorney speaking at premiere for the movie, After Innocence, estimates that there are between 20,000 and 100,000 wrongly convicted still in prison.Valid research puts the estimated false rape reporting rate at 41%Source: http://falserapesociety.blogspot.com/p/prevalence-of-false-rape-claims.htmlCapital Punishment Targets Men Almost ExclusivelySince the death penalty was reinstated in 1976, there have been over 1,200 executions in the United States. Eleven of them, or less than 1%, were women. This stands in stark contrast considering women commit, by DOJ estimates, 10% of all murders, are involved in 35% of all domestic homicides (are involved often means they get other people to kill for them) and nearly 30% of murders where the victim was another family member. We hear a lot about the historical oppression of women’s voting rights, but few if any women who were born in the 20th century were every without the right to vote in their lifetime, upon reaching legal voting age. On the other hand, around 2400 hundred California men (42% of CA men killed in Vietnam) gave their life for their country without being allowed by their country to vote. The exact number is 2,381. Four of the twelve Iwo Jimo flag raisers died for their country without their country ever allowing them the right to vote.http://www.mensnewsdaily.com/archive/a-b/blumhorst/2005/blumhorst052805.htmhttp://www.thewall-usa.com/names.asp“The youngest Vietnam KIA is believed to be Dan Bullock USMC, at 15 years old.At least 5 men killed in Vietnam were 16 years old.At least 12 men killed in Vietnam were 17 years old. There are 120 persons who listed foreign countries as their home of record. At least 25,000 of those killed were 20 years old or younger. The oldest man killed was 62 years old.”If you do a full count on all the men in the 20th century who died for their country without being allowed to vote the numbers will be staggering. In America there are over 270 women’s commissions, but only one for men in New Hampshire. There are over 700 Women’s Studies programs on colleges and universities throughout the United States teaching thousands or tens of thousands of classes from the gender feminist perspective, but not one program or class, teaching men’s studies from the masculist perspective.Men are fully half of the victims of domestic violence (26% of intimate partner homicides), yet are denied service at most tax payer funded domestic violence shelters. The CDC reports that in cases of non-reciprocal intimate partner violence (one directional) that women are more than twice as likely to be the aggressor. The report cites that women comprise 70% of perpetrators, men 29%.In the largest collection of studies on intimate partner violence known, Martin Fiebert of the California State University, Longbeach offers the following:SUMMARY: This bibliography examines 286 scholarly investigations: 221 empirical studies and 65 reviews and/or analyses, which demonstrate that women are as physically aggressive, or more aggressive, than men in their relationships with their spouses or male partners. The aggregate sample size in the reviewed studies exceeds 371,600. Source: http://www.csulb.edu/~mfiebert/assault.htmIn another study the CDC lists male victims of domestic violence at more than 34%, but men injured in Iraq (and all other men) are by law in California excluded from domestic violence shelter services. Only one shelter in Lancaster, CA accepts men and it has been extensively harassed for doing so.That harassment is a systemic problem with origins that emanate from academe. Dr. Murray Straus, an internationally recognized expert on intimate partner violence published the following paper outlining the various ways that feminist ideologues suppress data and research on IPV that demonstrates gender symmetry in its incidence.Source: http://pubpages.unh.edu/~mas2/V74-gender-symmetry-with-gramham-Kevan-Method%208-.pdfMen are subject to extreme discrimination in healthcare.Men today die on average 6 years sooner than women. In 1920 the variance was one year. The death rates for prostate and breast cancer are similar, but because men die of other things more frequently-accidents ,war, heart disease etc., there are fewer men left to die of prostate cancer. This is akin to saying people from a nation like Zimbabwe are immune to Alzheimer’s- but in fact they die of other things before they can get old enough to contract Alzheimer’s.To date, there are numerous federal offices on women’s health, and not a single one for men. Also, the lion’s share of gender specific medical research is done on behalf of women.Men and boys are suffering decline in the educational system. Department of Education graph: Boys are facing a significantly harder time in early education than girlsSource: http://aspe.hhs.gov/hsp/08/boys/factsheets/ed/index.shtmlYet girls, from primary education through college still benefit from many more special programs designed to help them gain “equality” with males. The wage gap myth based on the “comparable worth” paradigm:http://mensnewsdaily.com/2007/04/23/the-gender-feminist-wage-gap-myth-appears-to-be-growing-legs/http://mensnewsdaily.com/2007/04/23/gender-feminist-wage-gap-myth-appears-to-be-growing-legs-part-ii/More sources debunking the wage gap myth:http://www.businessinsider.com/actually-the-gender-pay-gap-is-just-a-myth-2011-3?op=1While men make more money than women on average, women control and spend vastly more money than men.http://www.amazon.com/Pocketbook-Power-Hearts-Coveted-Consumer/dp/0071418601/sr=1-1/qid=1167804358/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-6478055-3977644?ie=UTF8&s=booksorhttp://tinyurl.com/sf342Pocketbook Power: How to Reach the Hearts and Minds of Today’s Most Coveted Consumer – WomenBernice KannerFrom the Back CoverWomen as an economically disadvantaged group is a myth that negatively affects men.Not too long ago, legendary adman David Ogilvy chided his peers for talking down to women. He berated those who ignored women or discounted them, misconstruing men’s higher paychecks to mean greater spending clout. And he was right. According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, women–who comprise just over 51 percent of the U.S. population, making them the largest consumer segment in the country–control six trillion dollars in buying power annually. Statistics show that:Women make 88 percent of all U.S. retail purchases. Some experts even predict that, by 2020, women will control most of the money in America.Women control 88 percent of all purchases.Women handle 75 percent of family finances. 43 percent of those with assets over $500,000 are women.Women influence two out of every three of the 3 trillion dollars spent in the U.S. each year! From the Sisters4Sisters Yellow Pages: Women are starting businesses at twice the rate of men. One out of every 11 American women owns her own business. Currently there are over 10.6 million women-owned businesses employing 19.1 million people and generating $2.5 trillion in sales. Women make or influence over 85% of all purchasing decisions. In 2010, women have the majority of wealth in America.Men pay the majority of social security taxes and are outlived by six years by women, but the government makes no fair adjustment to how those funds are distributed. In summary, men experience systematic discrimination in parenting, domestic violence policies, education, criminal sentencing, paternity, forced labor, military conscription, public health policies, genital integrity, false accusations, reproductive rights, portrayal by the media and in the coverage of their issues by the news media.Misandry is often expressed through racism. From Scottsboro An American Tragedy.“The protection of white womanhood, it might be the pivot around all Southern culture. Of the 5,000 people who were lynched from 1880 to 1940, most were black men accused of raping or sexually assaulting white women.” – Robin Kelly, HistorianFrom American Man“In 1931, two white women stepped from a boxcar in Paint Rock, Alabama to make a shocking accusation: they had been raped by nine black teenagers on the train.” … ”- a poor white woman whose lie lends her respectability…”PBS Home VideoScottsboro An American TragedyThe case that sparked the civil rights movementAs we have seen with the “war on drugs,” legislation like VAWA, primary aggressor laws, mandatory arrest laws and the like have a disproportionately negative effect on minorities and other low income populations.Source: http://ncfm.org/libraryfiles/Children/DV/AAVRmandatArrestVAWA.pdfOr the differences in healthcare for men and women in Obamacare programhttp://blogs.the-american-interest.com/wrm/2013/05/14/obamacare-kicks-young-men-while-theyre-down/http://www.ahip.org/MillimanReportACA2013/http://www.ahip.org/Workarea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=2147491347http://money.cnn.com/2013/05/14/news/economy/obamacare-premiums/index.html?iid=HP_LNYoung men will be the biggest losers in the transition to Obamacare. I hope you are not trying to justify feminism in america and all over with just selective british info from womens interest groups. And unlike feminists, this isnt glorifying the hardships of men in 3rd world nations to justify the movement here, the way feminist do with their rape data and other crap in africa to have the move here in a first world nation where they have all the rights , where real oppressed people would kill themselves and gladly accept daily rape if it me kids would get half the freedom the women here have. Lol. Reblogging for posterity. R.I.P. to app users crashes and lags incoming. And no, the guy didn’t reply to me after. This is just… BRILLIANT!!
