lowkeytiger:I’m a big fan of harm reduction in the ED community. Idk if any of you hang out on r/EDAnonymous, but this post and the studies in it are crucial if you’re struggling to high restrict. The first study was done with anorexic inpatient participants, and the takeaway is that even severely underweight participants had a 950-1000 calorie REE (Resting Energy Expenditure), which was measured laying perfectly still other than reading or listening to music. TDEE is REE + DIT (diet induced thermogenesis, aka energy used to digest food) + NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis, aka walking, talking, moving at all beyond existing flat on your back). This means ' / , water retention and the million other factors that cause weight fluctuation be damned.
