alaynestone:saltandshakendust:this is how a martyr is made#constellations etched across your skin #dean is the martyr because dean is divinity without disciples; because he puts himself in the position of carrying rather than being lauded#heaven silently quivers and fears the immensity of power he has #(all that time retraining castiel; ‘fixing’ him; forcing him to kill this man) #(and all it took were a few sparse words from the real thing to stop him) #sometimes i think about how terrifying dean would be if he were power hungry or had he been born on the opposite knife’s edge #the danger he would present if he were messianic; but martyrdom itself contrasts that #’one who makes great sacrifices or suffers much in order to further a belief cause or principle’ #’i will carry my soul in my hand and throw it in the valleys of death’ #and dean spends this scene advancing because he knows he can’t get out#(it’s like surrender if surrender were defiant; if surrender were putting your hand out to the person who might kill you) #(just as his method of fighting back at the end becomes supplication and unwavering love acting as an anchor) #his blood is spilling on the floor of the crypt of the morning star himself #and the word of god ends up on that floor (cracks like his bones) #martyrs die for devotion; what else is this supposed to be? -- source link
