Photo: Alasdair McClellan)Here they come, Into and Them; two hellish twins born of the Neo-Liberal Gay and the PomoHomos, the “new generation” of media looking for your attention, clicks and dollars wrapped in a gaudy coat of virtue signalling. Both Into and Them pose as “non binary” and part of the “gender cultural revolution” some have been led to believe is happening right now. The barely hidden subtext of these publications is pitched to the “young” “hip” “clued in” (translate: intellectually naive with disposable income). Pandering and influencing are similar in the diffuse “culture” that is sloppily labelled LGBTQQIAA2K (or as we prefer, KLAGAQBIT2—that’s also Klingon for “utter bullshit that can get you killed and eaten on Kronos”). These sad whore house facades are “leading the way”, croaking the latest slogans and trends rehashed from gender studies at NYU. Oddly they are actually unwittingly very honest meters of the Potemkin “Gay Village”: in a fake and baseless community, anyone can represent (or misrepresent) the truth, especially when your corporate daddy is paying for the mic. The most deluded of the useful idiots writing and editing at these places probably think, on some level, they are doing good. Other temporisers might believe they are at least doing no harm. Their self-deception might go something like, “who cares about this crowd any way, I mean, no one real would believe a magazine Grindr created or another Frankenstein monster created in the Conde Nasty lab, right?”. Well, that’s where they are wrong. Let’s begin with Into, the spawn of the nefarious app, Grindr. First of all, Grindr has, along with its multiple copy-cat ilk have gone a long way toward atomizing the group MSM. Gay bars, events and clubs are seen as a thing of the past, because homos can meet anywhere? Right? Many men no longer enter a non-digital gay space and therefore these men do not have to face themselves and others for who they are. This is the realm where culture can evolve, where rites and rituals and stories can be told. Does Grindr support that? No, by creating a space people can always meet, they hardly ever do. What’s more, they hide and lie more. Conde Nast is simpler: raw commercial exploitation of a “virgin” market. That is simply all they do, that and the worst employers in journalism in the opinion of many former employees. Now these corporate paragons of virtue are busy branding. Out of their marketing labs, they have concocted and idea that has already proven to be very profitable to the last generation of exploiters. The LGBTQ+ brand is getting a bit tarnished. They have what they want anyway, marriage and adoption and all, so, before they move on to the inevitable divorces and tell-alls by their fucked up kids, yet another fake culture must be invented! Thus the LGBTQI-whatever evolving into the “non binary cultural earthquake of gender non-conformity” twaddle. Why is this so terrible? If it remained in a few seminar rooms of overpaid charlatans at American universities then it would simply be risible. The fact that some ninnies want to remake and already fake culture (the Rainbow Pride Nation) into an even more phoney bit of tripe would also just be laughable, but there’s more to it than the mockable. Listen, or look if you dare, to what they peddle here. These companies come for you only when they smell blood. The Chinese owners of Grindr care little for the gay, but 77 million in revenue and growing is attractive to their “type”. Conde Nast is a billion dollar company, enough said. These facts are important because isolated people make the best customers. The more alone people are, the less connected with real friends and family, the more they want other things. It’s a simple formula and it works, look at advertising for five minutes and all the lack it tries to replace. Because this false community built is on lies that say “everything is a choice” and “everyone has their own gender” it is actually a form of extreme individualism which further atomizes and isolates. Promising a gender free world is as false as it is irresponsible. People looking for such a world will become disappointed at best, delusional at worst. Most science calls it for what it is: nonsense. Gender is complex and difficult, with element of, yes the social and cognitive, but also the evolutionary and biological. Gender Trouble, the Bible of these people is a highly technical multidisciplinary work, but based on a narrow frame of humanities references. It practically ignores social science and the sciences as do the minions who follow its oversimplified and superficial mantra: gender is a performance! All of this “philosophy” disembodies queers, makes the flesh suspect and alien. It implies our true nature is something ideal, something abstract, when the truth is much more complex and more rooted in the meat of the body-brain than in the thin cortexes of a few neurotic professors who haven’t gotten laid in fifty years! There is a deep strain of neo-puritanism in the PomoHomos, a basic mistrust and disgust with the body, its functions and its natural pleasures. If they were more honest they might say, “The only good thing about sex, sexuality and gender is to make a case for ‘equality’!” Of course, when interrogated these ideas are of the flimsiest quality and fall to pieces. But most people (even educated ones) don’t read science any more, much less philosophy and haven’t the tools or inclination to debate these zealots (who when confronted, quickly turn into fanatics). Worse yet, they seem to have lost their critical capacity. To critique is to offend, the worst thing one can do today. The only defence against foolishness is a sound education, alas. Enter Capitalism, wolves into the sheep pen dressed as right thinking influencers like Into and Them!If your dreams of a queertopia are being thwarted why cis-white supremacist males, then at least you can take a gender non-conforming vacation to an country oppressed by colonialism. The real point it to turn sexual minorities into a metabolizable market, to that end they must be shaped into consumers. The hypocrisy and posing of such readers is only slightly exceded by the moral awfulness of the writers. Just as the Neo-Gays (LGBTQ+) generation offered itself into the maw of capitalism, so is this generation, with yet another utterly false revolution, offering its throat to the corporate velociraptors. What will be the “exchange” this time for dreams of “gender non-conformity” and “drama” and “no f*cks given” and “transtopia”? Let’s get these straight. None of these things are bad in and of themselves, when they are used to distract and exploit, then there’s a problem. What would be a better alternative? Natural affinity with those we feel most comfortable. Attraction is not just physical, but intellectual and temperamental. Of course there should be some kind of loose union of sexual minorities. We must have some interests in common, though none really come to mind right now. But like Native Americans before the Great Invasion, we realize Us and Them is a very relative term. We know we are not Apache, but we know we really are not English. Like Native Americans sexual minorities only became aware of one another in the face of an annihilating hegemonic power. This does not make all the tribes related or even compatible. They might have political common cause, they might have a common experience of suffering, but unlike sexual minorities, Native Americans had families, clans and tribes and a developed way of decision making. Sexual minorities have been convinced, streetwalkers that we are, that all we have are the vagaries of the marketplace. The problem comes when some mad person or persons starts speaking for an entire community that does not even understand their language, much less their experience or world view! Like most corporate fuelled enthusiams, this will last a few seasons and then fade. In its wake will be more flotsam and jetsam, more wasted time, but some will profit, with either money or fake activist jobs or false esteem at universities. When sexual minorities, like all people, realize that it is in the interest of the Hegemon to keep us divided, into us-es and thems, by “uniting” us into a non-existent community driven by a false consciousness, then we might say we have begun to awake. -John de Grey, HOMO -- source link
