ebbywaffle: So…this is a thing I decided to do in the middle of the night. Due to recent posts(this one vs. this one), I wanted to try an experiment. Since I’ve been in quite the huge rut lately I’ve been going back to the basics, trying to find what makes me like to draw in the first place. I’m hoping that by dissecting issues like this, I can find out. And yes, I am aware that Korra is lighter than I am(at least by the 1st lighting. but even in the sunlight, I’m darker) but it still is something to consider when putting shadows and lighting on POC with my skin type. Of course, it’ll be different with people that have darker skin than I have too. I’m going to try and do a tutorial on them as well. It’s just that, I’ve heard this excuse in art school: “Well, the reason why I didn’t put dark-skinned people in my picture/film shoot/whatever is that it’s sooo hard to light them properly!” The real reason is that there aren’t many tutorial/resources that have someone other than a classical-looking white person in them. Maybe by putting materials out there I can help young artists, especially POC artists, get more information and visibility. -- source link
